John Martinez is a Quebecer of Salvadoran origin based in Montréal. 

Through cinema, he learns to appreciate all aspects related to visual arts and image building. He uses his cinematic influences to create small worlds around his subjects to capture unique portraits.

He strives to mix beauty, drama and a sense of ambiguity in his work. He thinks of his portraits as an interpretation of the person he photographs rather than a 1:1 representation of them. 

This philosophy creates portraits that sit between reality and fiction.

John Martinez est un Québécois d'origine salvadorienne basé à Montréal. 

C'est grâce au cinéma qu'il apprend à apprécier tous les aspects liés aux arts visuels et à la construction d'images. Il utilise ses influences cinématographiques pour créer des univers autour de ses sujets et pour capturer des portraits uniques. 

Il s'efforce d'allier beauté, drame et ambiguïté dans son travail. Il considère ses portraits comme une interprétation de la personne qu'il photographie plutôt qu'une représentation propre. 

Cette philosophie permet de créer des portraits à mi-chemin entre réalité et fiction.
